Loading a new METHUSALEM-MBS firmware version:

Instead of copying the new firmware version NNN to a PCMCIA card and loading
it as described in the user manual on page 31, you may alternatively copy the
file hfNNN.mbs to the current subdirectory and load it as follows using
the SENDCOM program (NNN stands for the current version number):

At first, the old firmware version has to be erased using:

> ?forth empty-erom boot <cr>

and the system comes back with its ROM sign-on message e.g.

METHUSALEM-MBS SN_000203 ROM_2.82 23.10.2000 (c) SEND GmbH

Now the new firmware can be loaded using:

> include mbsNNN.mbs <cr>

The messages displayed are identical to the ones you see when you load via the
PCMCIA card. Eventually, the system will boot displaying e.g. the following 
messages:

METHUSALEM-MBS SN_000203 ROM_2.82 23.10.2000 (c) SEND GmbH
MBS-FIRMWARE VER_1.82 11.07.2001 (c) SEND GmbH
boot unsynchronized

Every now and then the internal ROM of METHUSALEM-MBS has to be updated and 
therefore, it may happen that the latest firmware version is not compatible
with your ROM version. In that case the firmware loading process will be
aborted and the message

"incompatible ROM version"

will be displayed. If you really need features of the new firmware version you
will have to send METHUSALEM-MBS back to us for a ROM upgrade.
